Tree Maintenance

Crown Reductions

To reduce and maintain the size of the crown, keeping a natural shape. Reductions also let more light reach the ground.

Selective Reductions

This aspect of tree surgery is aimed at reducing one part of the tree to create a uniform shape. Usually, it involves reducing an over-extended limb.

Crown Thinning

Thinning increases light and air flow through the canopy. This is effective for limiting growth conditions of fungal spores and reducing the weight of the crown without changing its overall size or shape.

Crown Lifting

We remove lower branches and limbs to provide more space below, improving access and opening up views.

Pollarding

Pollarding manages the size and growth of trees so they don’t outgrow their space. This prevents interference with overhead cables and stops trees blocking street lamps. We carry out pollarding around every 3 years.

Coppicing

Our tree surgeons offer coppicing for ornamental purposes within the garden; it produces bright stems and super-sized leaves. We also carry out coppicing for conservation purposes to aid woodland biodiversity.

Deadwood Removal

Parish Arboriculture can remove naturally occurring deadwood from trees, reducing risks to people and property. This also helps maintain the health and look of the tree.

Formative Pruning

Tree Cable Bracing

Cable bracing is a failure prevention method for trees with an over-extended or overweighted limb. It allows free movement in the wind but stops over extended movement and reduces the risk of the limb falling should it break.

Replanting

We are always keen to discuss the replanting of trees or hedges and can make recommendations and source plants along with necessary materials to give them the best start.

Tree Removal

Parish Arboriculture’s tree surgery work includes the safe removal of diseased, damaged and unsafe trees. This can form part of site clearance projects.

We will assess the best option for each tree and location and fell trees using one of the following methods:

Sectional Dismantling

For small or built-up areas. We climb the tree and methodically remove branches, limbs and segments. Using specialist rigging equipment, we lower each section to the ground in a controlled way. We can also use a MEWP to access the crown if your tree isn’t strong enough to support climbing.

Directional Felling

Where space allows, we fell the tree in one piece and dismantle it on the floor.
